Left Sunday for Houston...this time with the old, larger RV - much more comfortable, and after a little practice I can tow it safely!  Rusty is actually driving again and we share the driving on the Houston trip.

On this MDAnderson visit, Rusty had a biopsy of tumor on his back - it has shrunk so much that they had trouble finding it!  He also had blood work and an EKG to insure that the medications he is taking to attack the melanoma is not negatively affecting his heart or blood chemistry.  All looked good.  His physician is pleased with the response to the medication, with his positive attitude and with his energy levels.  So far, no untoward effects from the therapy.  The last appointment of the day Tuesday was the immunotherapy infusion - 30 minutes, and no problems.

All of this took place on Monday and Tuesday, and after a visit to Rice Village and our favorite Italian Restaurant there, we went scouting around for a new RV park.  Found an RV "resort" on a lake  about three miles from MDAnderson and the Texas Medical Center...pool, exercise room, walking trails, rec hall, etc.  We made reservations for our three May appointment visits.

The trip home takes about 5 or 6 hours but is handily broken up by a seafood restaurant at about lunch time and a Blue Bell ice cream  shop about two hours later.

We return to Houston on May 1 and 2  for more testing and the infusion therapy.  I will post on this blog again then.
Almost home...ferry trip from Aransas Pass to Port Aransas - 15 minutes to home.

We did our regular Wimberley gig on The first Saturday in April.  Hannah, Joe and Linda's 22 year old daughter, along with her sidekick, Aiden, worked with us all day and, providing excellent help and relief for Rusty and I.  Sales were good!

From Wimberley, we drove directly to Houston on Sunday for the early April appointments.  No appointments on Monday, so we caught our breath and spent a few hours at the Houston Zoo.

Tuesday we started at 8:00 AM and had appointments  through until 2 PM.  All went well.  The doc and her team are pleased with Rusty's condition, feel that the melanoma is subsiding and that his side effects are minimal and manageable.  Rusty has started to have extreme weakness in his legs and his legs fatigue easily.  They prescribed physical therapy at home...fortunately, we have a PT friend in Corpus, Cathy Pierce, so we will visit her later this week.  Some of his lab work is starting to show the effects of the toxic drugs he is taking, but so far, nothing serious.  He had his immunotherapy infusion this afternoon..,that will be every two weeks.  We'll be back in two weeks and I'll update you then.  Thanks for your thoughts, prayers,  cards and support!
